About

An independent crypto reference

Coinformant is a reference database with a newsroom attached, rather than a newsroom with a price ticker bolted on. We record four kinds of fact: what coins exist and what happened to them, which exchanges operate in which countries and what they list, what the law says about crypto in each jurisdiction, and which new tokens show the signals commonly associated with high-risk launches.

The domain is Australian and the Australian coverage is the deepest on the site. That is proof of rigour, not a ceiling — crypto law and exchange availability are questions with different answers in every country, and almost nobody answers them properly anywhere.

We do not take payment for ratings. No exchange, token issuer or venture fund owns any part of this site, no ranking position is for sale, and there is no rate card. Australia’s most prominent crypto news outlet is a wholly-owned subsidiary of an exchange it reviews. The two largest comparison sites disclose that placement in their tables is paid for. We think there is room for one that isn’t.

Who publishes this

Coinformant is published and edited by Craig Winder in Australia. There is one named human responsible for what appears here, which is deliberate: a site that rates financial risk should not hide behind a masthead of invented bylines.

Content is researched with the assistance of automated tools and AI-assisted drafting. Every published claim is checked against a primary source, every risk rating in the High band is reviewed and signed off by a person before publication, and the editor is accountable for all of it.

What we will not do

  • Sell a position in a ranking, a rating, or a list.
  • Publish sponsored “reviews”, presale promotion, or paid guest posts.
  • Tell you which coin to buy. We publish risk signals, not recommendations.
  • Call a token or a person a scam as a statement of fact.
  • Republish data we are not licensed to republish, however convenient it would be.
Coinformant provides general information only. Nothing here is financial product advice, and it does not consider your objectives, financial situation or needs. See our methodology, the Independence Ledger, and where our data comes from.
